FAQ's:

When does DLG Cheer season start?  It depends on the age of your athlete.  For our younger athletes (4 years old - those entering 2nd Grade in the fall), our season starts at our Opening Day ceremony, typically held the last Saturday in July or first Saturday in August.  For our older teams (JV/Varsity), conditioning sessions for athletes entering 3rd grade in the Fall and older begins in April.  Assessments for our JV and Varsity teams are held mid-May followed by twice a week practices for these teams through the end of the school year.  JV and Varsity teams attend a four day Summer Camp in Husson Maine in July.  For all of our teams, regular season practices begin in August.

When should I register my athlete?  As soon as possible!  Registration opens in February.  All JV/Varsity aged athletes should be registered before conditioning sessions start in April/May.  We request that our younger athletes be registered before the end of the school year so we can determine teams, ensure we have appropriate coaching staff, and reserve practice space.

How often, when and where are practices?  Our JV/Varsity teams will practice in one of the Dover school's gym during the spring.  In August, all of our teams will practice outside, typically at Garrison Elementary school.  Once school starts, depending on your team, practice will either be held at Dover Middle School or Dover High School gyms.  Practice typically is 6-8pm twice per week.  Additional practices may be added at the coach's discretion. 

Does DLG cheer for football games?  Yes, all of our teams cheer for Dover Football League games.  Games are usually either Saturday or Sunday in September and early October.  For JV and Varsity level, a nominal spectator entrance fee is charged for Dover games.  Depending on the schedule, we sometimes cheer at "Away" games, and they may charge spectator entrance fees, as well.

Does DLG Cheer participate in Cheer competitions?  Yes, all of our teams participate in at least three local cheer competitions held on weekends in October/early November.  Our older teams may compete in five competitions.  We highly encourage parents, family and friends to attend competitions to support our athletes.  Competitions typically charge $10-$15 spectator entrance fees.
